In order to celebrate SIGA Slate’s 10th anniversary a dedicated Twitter campaign – #loveSIGAslate – has been unveiled via SIGA’s new Twitter account, @SIGASlate.
Running throughout the month of January 2015, followers of the new Twitter account can win a three day trip for two to O’Barco, Spain, where they will experience great food, lively Spanish culture and a hosted tour of a slate mine in the heart of the Spanish quarrying region, simply by tweeting images of their SIGA slate installations. Captioned with the name of the slate and location of the project, followers have multiple opportunities to enter and winners will be judged by a senior member of the SIGA management team.

For the winner, this will be an amazing experience, learning about the processes involved in producing natural slate. They will learn about the geology of slate as they visit a slate mine, an open-sky quarry and see the material being extracted from the mountain. They will follow the slate down to the splitting sheds, where it is sawn into workable blocks and hand-split and sorted to produce finished slates. The winner will witness the passion and attention to detail taken in all these processes, and even have a go at splitting their own slates. Runner up prizes are a 16GB iPad and a £50 Capital Bond voucher.
